Itziri Gonzalez-Barcenas
My three years at Davidson have been priceless. I have learned from a wide network of individuals: prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and Davidson town members. My enriching experiences have taught me two crucial points: 1) we can truly learn from anyone and 2) it is fulfilling to serve others in any capacity. These, and the fact that representation matters, are the reasons why I am running. I think we should continue to find better ways to learn from each other and serve others because, only then, can Davidson truly work towards becoming an inclusive space for all students. I also want to play a small role in normalizing the act of women on campus running for office. Win or lose, running is empowering. Running is essential. Finally, I want to give back to the place that helped me find myself: an unapologetic, confident, strong Latina. Together, our future can be better. If you feel so inclined, you can read my personal blog to learn more about me- my thoughts, what drives me, and more: documentingmyundocumentedlife.wordpress.com

Osama Syed
Hi, my name is Osama Syed. (Most people know me by a nickname, Sammy, but I've been starting to go by my first name more in the last few months). I was born in Pakistan but live in Wichita, Kansas. I'm a third-year, majoring in Political Science. I find it fulfilling to be active around campus and a community, and have been a part of several organizations in the last couple years including SGA, MSA, and Questbridge Scholars Network, just to name a few. I enjoy getting to know people and taking part in a variety of activities that I have limited knowledge of to learn about a new perspective or skill and to appreciate and learn from the variety of lifestyles, ideologies, and experiences that others have had and continue to have.
I am campaigning with Itziri because I believe the pair of us have many identities, experiences, and social networks that have provided us with nuanced views of the lifestyles here at Davidson. I think there are many parts of this school that have been great in their implementation, but there is always something to improve on. I firmly believe we can help and work with the various groups on campus to create a better Davidson for us and future students.
